Commercial Barista Training
Commercial Barista Training
So you want to up your coffee game? Seems like a noble pursuit to me! Let me explain how our commercial training sessions work, so you have the best understanding of what we offer…
During our time together, we will explore various jobs a barista will come across; including how to consistently pull the perfect shot, master milk texturing and latte art techniques, and ultimately enhance your baristas’ knowledge of coffee. This deeper understanding will empower them to assist customers with any coffee-related questions they may have, and ultimately improve the quality of your product and the service you provide.
Below is a quick overview of what a coffee training session with me looks like…

Back to Basics
First things first – We’ll get your team up to speed on what coffee is, where it comes from, and how it goes from the farm to the cup. We’ll cover origins, processing, roasting, and then the final stage – Brewing.

Espresso Fundamentals
Here, I will explain the essential steps for creating great espresso: dose, yield, and brew time. We will then discuss how to utilize these variables, along with your equipment, to ensure consistent quality throughout the day.

Milk Texturing and Latte Art
The fun bit! Texturing milk and creating latte art can be some of the most challenging concepts to master. In this section, we will explore effective techniques for achieving perfectly smooth milk foam and establish the groundwork for pouring beautiful latte art.

To Suit your Menu
Once the team has grasped the fundamentals, I will ensure that each member feels confident in crafting all of the espresso-based drinks your business offers. This not only fosters a sense of assurance in each individual’s skills but also reinforces your brand’s identity.

Machine Maintenance and Cleaning
Delivering a high-quality product depends largely on ensuring that the machinery functions correctly. To maintain optimal performance, it is essential to emphasize the importance of machine maintenance. In this guide, we will discuss backflushing espresso machines, programming dose and yield, and the fundamentals of grinder upkeep.
After our session, I will provide a laminated guidebook summarizing everything we’ve covered. Each session will run for 2.5 to 3 hours and will be limited to a maximum of six participants to ensure everyone has ample time to practice.
I will arrive 30 minutes prior to the session to ensure the equipment is set up and ready for the commencing session, and I will leave a detailed email summary of how the session went, including an outline for how to continue to implement the discussed topics going forward.
If you would like to discuss a more tailored session to suit your specific space, please send a message across via the ‘contact me’ section, and I will be in touch!
