Hello!
Ey-Up! My name is Josh. I’m a freelance barista trainer based around Cheshire East and the Peak District.
If you’re reading this, chances are, you like a cup of the good stuff… Chances are, you’ve also faced the frustration of trying to achieve it (likely, throwing milk and coffee grounds about in the process… I’ve been there too, don’t worry).
Over the past 6 years, I have worked with some of the countries’ best coffee shops and roasteries. I’ve also had the privilege of managing a successful speciality coffee shop in sunny South Manchester, and in doing so, I have learnt the importance of solid training when it comes to providing excellent service and an exceptional product.
During my time slinging espressos and caffeinating the public, I’ve had the opportunity to listen to the challenges home baristas and coffee professionals face in trying to attain that perfect brew.
In 2023, I had the privilege of being a part of the Victoria Arduino Youth Academy, which helped me to attain my Foundational, Intermediate, and Professional Barista qualifications through the speciality coffee association. During my time with the academy, I had the opportunity to take my understanding of the world of coffee to the next level, and through that, I can now pass on that information to a broader audience. My goal is to make this information more available to the broader coffee community, to independent coffee shops and home baristas alike.
The world of coffee can be a tricky one to understand. There are a lot of niche pathways which can very quickly lead both home and commercial baristas to a feeling of isolation, and the daunting sense of ‘I don’t even know where to start!’. I can relate to this feeling, and I recognise how frustrating it can be.
So, I present to you, Millstone Baristas! My mission is to to cut through all of the jargon, and give you the tools and the know-how to make a bangin’ brew; be it from your coffee shop, or your kitchen counter.
